Founded by Sandy Sue Garlitz, WKMM hit the airwaves on
August 23 rd,1985 , and has always had a country format. It was the first FM band station in Preston County. WKMM runs Dial Global's "Mainstream Country" satellite format most of the day, with a local DJ, Greg Bolyard, who is also WKMM's Operations Manager), hosting the morning show.WKMM had previously went by the name "96-7 KMM" until 2005, when it began using the "K-Country" moniker.
