West Virginia Route 43 is a state highway currently under construction in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Upon completion, WV 43 will run approximately 4 miles from the Pennsylvania-West Virginia state line to Interstate 68 near Cheat Lake. This is the final leg of the southern portion of the Mon/Fayette Expressway, which will connect Morgantown to the Pennsylvania cities of Uniontown, Brownsville, California, and Pittsburgh with a limited-access highway. Currently, WV 43 is complete except for the Morgans Run Bridge, which will pass over Darnell Hollow, a local interchange serving the area near Cheat Lake, and the large interchange connecting WV 43 to I-68.

North of the Pennsylvania border, WV 43 will continue northward as Pennsylvania Route 43 (PA Turnpike 43). Unlike PA 43 to the north, WV 43 will not be a toll road.Fact|date=February 2007

As of June 2008, the Morgans Run Bridge is under construction and is on schedule for completion in the Spring of 2009. Also, construction pertaining to the realignment of local roads near Interstate 68 to make way for the future interchange was completed in June 2008.

Sections not yet under construction include the local interchange at Cheat Lake and the massive interchange that will provide direct, high-speed access to Interstate 68. The local interchange at Cheat Lake is scheduled to be under construction by Spring 2009 and completed in Spring 2011. When this interchange is complete, the West Virginia section of the Mon/Fayette Expressway can be opened from this point to the Pennsylvania border.

The interchange with Interstate 68 is not scheduled to be under construction until 2012 with completion in 2014.
