Bhagabanpur

Bhagabanpur (also spelt as Bhagwanpur) is a well growing village of Purba Medinipur in India. This village contains one Police Station, one Post Office, one gramin hospital, one Higher Secondary School, one Primary school, two nursery schools and a few more institutions. The population is approximately 2000. The main occupation of the population is business.which is based on hair and comodities and also cultivation. 40% of the population are graduates .

Transport

The village is accessible by bus. The nearest railway station is Bajkul which is almost 15 km away from the village. From there the village can be reached by bus or tracker. The name of the village's bus stand is Shibazar (named after a lord Shiba temple at the bus stand).

History

Bhagabanpur is a historical place. A myth says it was 'sadar' of an oldest king, whose 'rajprasad' was at 'Kajlagarh' (which is a tourist place because of this 'rajprasad',12km away from Bhagabanpur).

Places of interest

Three things are popular and attract tourists: 1. Kali Temple, 2. Raam Temple and 3. Bhagabanpur Masjid. A part of this there is a 'Sayed Bedi'. (That is, a temple like bedi, the top of which contains a pot. Myths say this 'bed' on the memory of the freedom fighter who were died on a fight with British Police in 1942 and this pot contains blood of those freedom fighters). Also last but not the least is the scenic beauty of the village.
