Jason Sundance Head (born January 22 1979) is an American singer from Porter, Texas in the outskirts of Houston. He was a semi-finalist on the sixth season of the Fox television series "American Idol", but was eliminated one week before the finals. He is the son of country/blue-eyed soul singer Roy Head. He also had an older brother who died in a car crash several years prior.

In 2006, Head was married and around Christmas Day their child was born.

American Idol

Head auditioned in Memphis with the song "Stormy Monday," and received rave reviews from both Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell. Cowell said he would be surprised if Head "did not make the finals" and that "he blew Taylor Hicks out of the park." However, through the Hollywood process Simon Cowell found that in one performance he was completely "red [in the face] " and sang "through his nose." In the semi-finals he and Antonella Barba were supported by the website Vote for the Worst.

Head also plays instruments such as guitar, bass guitar, piano, and writes songs.

After his elimination, Head went to see "American Idol"'s psychiatrist and was told that his second cousin died in a house fire. In May 2007, his father reported that he signed a recording contract with Universal Music Group.
