Vale FM is an Independent Local Radio station which broadcasts to the Blackmore Vale and Cranborne Chase, from Shaftesbury, Dorset, in southern England.

Background

Vale FM is a local station with features aimed at the community.Previously, the station was known as Gold Radio.

For many years the station's programme controller was Stewart Smith (formerly from Wessex FM - also a part of the local radio company) He found a new challenge in 2007 launching a station in Bristol. After a brief spell at Original 106 Stewert was tempted back to the local radio company. He is currently managing The Bath and Swindon stations.

The current programme controller is also the drivetime presenter Dave Webster. He started his radio career at the main commercial station in Bournemouth. En route to Vale FM, he worked for BBC national radio and on Channel 4's Big Breakfast.

Cameron Smith is a well established radio personality who presents the breakfast show. His loyal following results in solid good RAJAR listening figures.

After a break of two years Dan Gold has returned to Vale FM. In that time he presented the mid-morning show at sister station Ivel FM based in Somerset.
