- Eastern Division (AFL)
The Eastern Division is one of the four divisions of the American
Arena Football League . It is also one of two divisions in the "National Conference" and currently consists of theCleveland Gladiators , theColumbus Destroyers , theDallas Desperados , theNew York Dragons , and thePhiladelphia Soul . It was first formed in 1995 when expansion brought up the current divisions. For the current teams, theColumbus Destroyers joined in 1999 as the Buffalo Destroyers and they stayed in the division during their 2004 move toColumbus, Ohio . TheDallas Desperados moved from the American Conference Central Division in 2004. TheNew York Dragons moved from the Central Division when the Iowa Barnstormers relocated to New York in 2001, while thePhiladelphia Soul entered as an expansion team in 2004. In 2007, theCleveland Gladiators , formerly from Las Vegas, rejoined the Eastern Division.Former Eastern Division Teams
