Wycoller Hall was originally the home of the Hartleys, and passed through marriage to the Cunliffe family in the mid-1600's. Built in
1550 by Piers Hartley, the structure was dismantled in1818 , and reused in the construction of a cotton mill, to help repay debts owed by Henry Owen-Cunliffe, the last of the original Cunliffe line to live at the hall [http://www.hartleyfamily.org.uk/HistoryPage.html] . The ruins are reputed to be haunted by a variety of spectres.
