Guruvayur Satyagraha

Guruvayur Satyagraha took place in (1931 - 32) was a Satyagraha in Trichur in Travancore now part of Kerala seeking entry for untouchables into the Guruvayur Temple.It was led by K. Kelappan who undertook a fast unto death for 12 days however it was given up on a request from Mahatma Gandhi.The right to enter temples was granted to untouchable Hindus only in 1936 by the Maharajah of Travancore by the Temple Entry Proclamation [ [http://www.guruvayur.com/history.htm Welcome to Guruvayur..
