- Luthor Huss
In the fictional "Warhammer Fantasy" setting, Luthor Huss is a warrior priest of the Empire's patron deity,
Sigmar .After he was orphaned by a Chaos raid, the young Luthor joined the Sigmarite Priesthood. He grew into a tall, strong man. To prove himself in battle, he saved a Reikland village single-handedly from a beastmen raid, slaying its leader and chief shaman. After being ordained, Huss became sickened by rampant corruption within the Church, and denounced what he saw as a dangerous spiritual laxity. After he was denounced by his superiors, Huss travelled the Empire, encouraging the faithful to seek the will of Sigmar without the mediation of the clergy. Despite frequent calls for Huss to be excommunicated, the Grand Theogonist, Volkmar the Grim, merely smiled enigmatically, and refused.
After Volkmar's death, Johann Esmer was elected as Grand Theogonist, and the forces of Chaos waxed stronger than ever. Huss travelled the Empire, believing the Empire was entering the times prophesised by the Church of Sigmar. He discovered Valten, the next Champion of Light, or chosen saviour of humanity. Leading him to the Empire's capital city, Huss watched as Valten was proclaimed Chosen of Sigmar and given his rightful weapon, Ghal Maraz. Huss was at Valten's side when he faced down the Chaos Warlord Archaon in battle. Despite their courage and strength, both men were bested by Archaon, who was in turn bested by the Orc Warlord Grimgor Ironhide.
After Valten was murdered, Huss began preaching at the Emperor's urging, claiming Sigmar would return once more when needed the most by his people.
Real-life Protestant reformists Martin Luther and Jan Huss can be considered the main influences behind the character of Luthor Huss.
