Allan is a graduate of the
University of California-Berkeley but found difficulty in maintaining interest in his course. He eventually discovered his desire to become an actor after an accident made him reassess his life. Blessed with a great physique and good looks, he had a modelling stint for the Ford agency. During that time, he participated in an episode of the reality competition seriesFear Factor , where he placed 2nd. Taking a chance, he packed up his bags and went toHong Kong for acting jobs.
