Ismail Tiliwaldi (
simplified Chinese : 司马义•铁力瓦尔地,pinyin : Sīmǎyì Tiělìwà'ěrdì; Uyghur: سماىلى تئىلئىۋئالدئى) (born November, 1944 inShufu County ) was thechairman of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of thePeople's Republic of China from 2003 to 2007.An Uyghur, Tiliwaldi began working in 1967 and joined the
Communist Party of China in May 1973. He graduated from theUniversity of Xinjiang with a degree inmathematics .In January 2003, he was elected as chairman of the Xinjiang region at the first session of the tenth
Xinjiang People's Congress .He is an alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee, and has been since 2002.
