"Placostylus ambagiosus worthyi" was a subspecies of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Bulimulidae, the bulimulus snails and their allies.

This subspecies is extinct.

Distribution

This subspecies was endemic to Cape Maria van Diemen in Northland in the North Island of New Zealand.

Habitat

This snail is found only as a subfossil weathering out of consolidated sand dunes.

hell description

Compared with the other "Placostylus ambagiosus" subspecies, this shell is the smallest. It is elongate-ovoid, with only the basal lip tubercle well developed.

The shell height is up to 75 mm, and width up to 29 mm.
