Institution
Norte Vista (or Novi) started as a junior high school, named Arlington Junior High, from 1958-1960. Since then it has expanded into a large high school, in comparison to area high schools.
Organizations
In addition to all the normal student groups present in other high schools, Norte Vista also has clubs for the International Baccalaureate, as well as Advancement Via Individual Determination, Friday Night Live, and the Human Rights Club.[1]
The Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program has designated Norte Vista as an AVID National Demonstration school. However, the International Baccalaureate program has become more of an important feature on campus, providing students with more resources and success.
Music
Norte Vista holds a Marching Band program.
Agriculture
Novi has an AG program, which students can raise farm animals and sell them at auctions at local Fairs
Drama
Norte Vista's drama program has put on such productions as The Diary of Anne Frank (November 2007), The Matchmaker (March 2008), If It's Monday, This Must Be Murder (May 2008), Pride and Prejudice (November 2008) and Guys and Dolls (March 2009).
Sports
Norte Vista High School is a member of the California Interscholastic Federation Sunkist League.
Norte Vista's girls basketball team is a footnote in basketball history, as Cheryl Miller, who played for Riverside Polytechnic High School at the time, personally scored 105 points in a varsity game, as a senior, against the Braves on January 26, 1982; the final score was 179-15.[citation needed]
Norte Vista's varsity football team went 11-2 in 2009 going to the CIF Semi-Finals falling to Phelan Serranos football team. They are currently the school's record holder of points in a season with 498. Their rivals are the La Sierra High School eagles.
Norte vista Held 9 All league players in their 2009 season with 4 of them returning players working for there nextseason.
