ESAD de Reims

ESAD de Reims

Historical background

The school of fine arts was founded in 1748 under the auspices of the town of Reims. The school soon fitted into a European outlook, since its founder, Louis-Jean Levesque de Pouilly made all efforts to meet together artists, architects and craftsmen of the neighbouring countries of Europe.

Current situation

In 1992, the French ministry of culture and the town of Reims made the school into a school of fine arts and design. To set up internationally, Gervais Jassaud -the director- calls some futur greath designers like Florence Doléac, Jean-Baptiste Sibertin-Blanc, Mathilde Bretillot, Pierre Charpin and others like Eric Jourdan, Fabien Cagagni,... From that, and with the selection and the motivation of fairy students, it becomes a prominent french art and design school. close to paris, it distinguishes itself with a teaching staff almost entirely made from practicing designers. The school is now evolving with graphic, multimedia, product and furniture design while maintaining close links with the creative process thanks to its fine art stream. The curriculum at the ESAD leads to bachelor's and master's degrees.

The ESAD of Reims totalises about 200 students in its different branches: fine arts, graphic design and product design. As for teachers, they are about 40, without taking into account our visiting artists and lecturers.

Location

The school is located in the town centre, near the Notre-Dame cathedral, close to shops, cafés and the Grand Theatre.

Identity

This identity is inspired by simple geometric form. its derivation into a typeface and layout structure refers to process of translation two dimensions into volume. it is strong, evoluative and recognisable - much like the quality of students the school produces. It have been made in 2006, by a student Jean-Charles Amey.
