=Athletics=

Bayano Kamani had the best finish for a Panamanian athlete in Athens with his 5th place in the 400 metre hurdles, and also successfully set a new national record in the semifinal.

Men's 400 metre Hurdles:

**Round 1: 49.37 s (5th in heat 3, "Qualified", 20th overall)
**Semifinal: 48.23 s (2nd in semifinal 3, "Qualified", 7th overall) ("Panamanian Record")
**Final: 48.74 s (5th overall)

Men's Long Jump:

**Qualification: 7.42 m (18th in Group B, did not advance, 36th overall)


=Swimming=

Eileen Coparropa was the only Panamanian swimmer to advance to a semifinal, accomplishing that feat in an event in which she was twice a Pan American Games medalist.
