"Placostylus bollonsi bollonsi" is a subspecies of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Bulimulidae, the bulimulus snails and their allies.

This subspecies is endangered.

Distribution

This land snail is endemic to the Three Kings Islands of New Zealand.

hell description

The shell is moderately large and fairly wide. Colour is yellowish-brown, irregularly and narrowly axially streaked in dark brown. The interior of the aperture is purplish-red.

The shell height is up to 100 mm, and width up to 39 mm.

Conservation status

"Placostylus bollonsi bollonsi" is classified by the New Zealand Department of Conservation as being "Nationally Endangered".
