"Placostylus bollonsi caperatus" is a subspecies of very large, air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Bulimulidae, the bulimulus snails and their allies.

This subspecies is critically endangered.

Distribution

This land snail is endemic to the Three Kings Islands of New Zealand.

Habitat

This subspecies is found at an altitude of about 500 ft under cover of stunted ngaio (Myoporum) scrub.

hell description

The shell is smaller and narrower than the typical "Placostylus", with a taller spire. The shell height is up to 97 mm, and width up to 36 mm.

Conservation status

"Placostylus bollonsi caperatus" is classified by the New Zealand Department of Conservation as being "Nationally Critical".
