Political history

In his early days in politics, he was a member of the Reform Party, saying that he was impressed by its emphasis on grassroots democracy and its attention to fiscal matters, though he also described himself as much more of a "social moderate" than his fellow party members. [cite news| last =Ferguson| first =Derek| title =Reform remains mired in western roots| page =A2| publisher ="Toronto Star"| date =1996-06-08| ]

At age 17, he challenged British Columbia's electoral laws that said he was too young to run for office. He appealed all the way to the Attorney General of British Columbia what he saw as his right to run as a Reform Party of British Columbia candidate in the Victoria-Hillside riding in the provincial election of 1996. He lost that battle, but he continued to speak out against the laws that restrict voting to those over age 18.

In 1997, while he was a second-year politics undergraduate student at McGill University, Glowinski ran as a federal political candidate for the now-defunct Progressive Conservative Party of Canada in the riding of Skeena.cite news| last =Evenson| first =Brad| title =Campaign Notebook| page =A5| publisher ="Edmonton Journal"| date =1997-05-12| ] He had split from the Reform Party because of what he viewed as their intolerance of First Nations people and of gay people. [cite news| last =O'Neil| first =Peter| title =One-time Reformers in B.C. make bids to run as Tories| page =A3| publisher ="Calgary Herald"| date =1997-04-11| ] He was also critical of Reform MP Mike Scott's view of gun control laws, saying, "He's so anti-gun-control he's pro-militia." [cite news| last =Hauka| first =Dan| title =Tory taunts reformer with gun-control jibes| page =A7| publisher ="The Province"| date =1997-05-08| ] At 18 years-of-age, Glowinski was the [http://reporter-archive.mcgill.ca/Rep/r2917/election.html/ youngest federal candidate in Canada] in that election. Later in the 1990s, he worked at Progressive Conservative headquarters in Ottawa.

From 2000 to 2001, Glowinski ran for the British Columbia Liberal Party nomination to become the provincial Liberal candidate in the riding of North Coast. Former Member of the Legislative Assembly Bill Belsey went on to win the nomination, and subsequently a seat in the 2001 provincial election.

In 2002, Glowinski founded a political gossip website known as [http://www.cawebsearch.com/11404640-torydraft.html/ www.torydraft.com] to promote the 2003 Progressive Conservative leadership convention. [cite news| last =Naumetz| first =Tim| title =Former MacKay aides sue over item on Tory gossip website| page =A5| publisher ="The Ottawa Citizen"| date =2004-10-02| ] From 2003 to 2004, he then operated www.bluedraft.com, a website which promoted the merger of the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. [cite news| last =McCarten| first =James| title =Angry Ontario judge delays arguments in Conservative party lawsuit| page =| publisher =Canadian Press| date =2003-11-26| ] While operating the website, Glowinski intervened in a lawsuit brought forward by former, failed Progressive Conservative leadership candidate David Orchard. [cite news| last =Gordon| first =Sean| title =Tory activists try to short-circuit Orchard lawsuit| page =1| publisher =CanWest News Service| date =2003-11-24| ]

Glowinski has also been involved in Ontario provincial politics. In 2007, he started the "grassroots" website tory2011.com to persuade John Tory—who lost the election and his own seat that year—to remain leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario for the next election in 2011. Glowinski graduated from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law in 2005.

While attending law school, he and Calgary Lawyer Ann Behennah appeared before the British Columbia Select Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs in 2001 to present recommendations for British Columbia's 2002 Treaty Referendum. Those recommendations were in a document authored by Kent Glowinski and Ann Behennah entitled [http://www.leg.bc.ca/cmt/37thparl/session-2/aaf/hansard/a11102a.htm/ "An Affirmative Referendum Process".]
