Mohammed Nasim (Bangladesh)

Mohammed Nasim (Bengali: মোহাম্মদ নাসিম) is a Bangladeshi politician.[1]

During an active political career Nasim was Bangladesh's Home Minister, its Minister of Industry, and its Minister of Post & Telecommunications.[2] Following his retirement from active politics Nasim became an advisor to WTP Capital LLC.

On July 17, 2000, when Nasim was Bangladesh's Home Minister, he spoke at the funeral of Shamsur Rahman special correspondent for Janakantha, a national daily newspaper, who had recently been murdered.[3][4]

Amnesty International reports that Nasim, and four other former politicians, from the Awami League, were beaten by Bangladeshi Police officers.[1] Nasim was reported to have been beaten on September 12, 2006.[5] The Bangladesh Awami League reports that Nasim's beating was captured on videotape. According to Amnesty International:

"Nasim was beaten with rifle butts and iron rods. He was hit on the arm, head and back, and went into a coma. Doctors have declared his condition as critical."
