Coquitlam Public Library is a public library that serves Coquitlam, British Columbia and in 2008 had a budget of $4,199,977. The library was established as part of the Centennial School Library in 1969. A public Library Board was established in 1977 and the library moved out of Centennial School and into two branches, Ridgeway and Cottonwood, in 1978. A third branch, Lincoln, in the northeast sector of Coquitlam, was opened in 1981. The Ridgeway and Cottonwood branches were eventually amalgamated when the City of Coquitlam built the Poirier Branch in 1989. The Lincoln Branch was moved to its present City Hall location in 1998.[2] The Poirier Branch was extensively renovated and expanded in 2008-2009.

On February 16, 2011 the city announced that it had purchased the ground floor portion of a building two blocks south of City Hall to serve as the new City Centre Public Library.[3] The new location will nearly triple the library's space to 31,000 square feet, and the $15 million cost for the facility and expansion will come primarily from revenues collected from Boulevard Casino.[4]
