Transport for London contracted bus route inLondon ,United Kingdom . The service is currently contracted toTravel London .History
The route 452 began on
2 December 2006 , and is operated byTravel London at Battersea Garage (QB), running from Wandsworth Road Station to Kensal Rise Station (via Kensington). The 452 was introduced because of the congestion on routes 137 and 52, in preparation for the Congestion Charging Western Extension [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/articles/2007/02/19/congestion_bus_routes_feature.shtml BBC - London - Travel - Buses increased after congestion extension ] ] . The route was initially operated by Dennis Tridents but at the beginning of 2007 the new Enviro400s intended for the route were delivered. The frequency is Monday to Saturday every 8 minutes, Sunday and evenings every 12 minutes. The average journey time of the route is between 38 and 65 minutes. There has been debate as to whether route 452 has yet reached its full potential as a north to south bus route - particularly due to the choice of terminating stops, with low rates of usage reported along the final stretches of the route. The southern terminus, at the little-used Wandsworth Road Station and in an area with a relatively low population density, means there is only limited potential for connections to other bus routes or modes of transport. It has been argued that the bus should have continued to Clapham Common Underground station, and possibly to Stockwell, and that at the north end could have gone to
