Joanne "Jo" McGuire is a fictional character from the Disney Channel TV Series "Lizzie McGuire". Jo is played by Hallie Todd.

Personality

Jo McGuire always wants to be the best mother ever. She will do anything possible to protect her children, Matt and Lizzie. She often gives excellent advice and is shown to be a great cook. Although she thinks she is doing something good, she often embarrasses her children and gets overly ecstatic at anything that indicates her children are growing up.

Love Relationships

Jo is married to Sam McGuire. It is indicated several times that they have been married for fifteen years. They first met during freshman week at High School. As a teenager, she had a crush on the lifeguard at the city pool, who is now a bald assistant manager at the Dairy Freeze who still lives with his mother.

Childhood

It is stated in many episodes that Jo as a child was a geeky-girl who envied anybody popular. She treasured her record and CD collections (including Leif Garrett vinyl records). In the episode "Between a Rock and a Bra Place", she said that she hated it when her mother embarrassed her (ironically what she now does to Lizzie).
