Matthew McGuire, also known simply as Matt was a fictional character from the Disney Channel TV Series "Lizzie McGuire". He is played by Jake Thomas.

Character Background

Matt is a scheming, witty, cheeky prankster who goes to extreme lengths to continuously annoy and irritate his sister Lizzie. At school, he is known to be the class clown. He is shown to be lazy and slightly overweight. He does have many potential talents but he doesn't use them much. Matt's best friend Lanny doesn't speak as a running gag, yet Matt has no problems communicating with him.

He is rather intelligent/creative and knows how to humor people.

Friends

Matt has many friends (which is an opposition to the number Lizzie has). His best friends appear to be the mysterious and quiet Lanny (who never speaks in the show due to it being a running gag) and Melina, a tomboy type of girl who shares many interests as Matt as well as having almost identical personalities excluding the fact that Melina usually tries to frame Matt to get him into serious trouble (which as an inside joke makes them fall for each other all the more). In the first season he has other friends such as Doug and Oscar as well as some of Lizzie's fellow classmates, especially Ethan Craft, much to Lizzie's despair.

Love Relationships

Matt's main love interest is Melina Bianco, his girlfriend who has an identical personality to him. In "The Untitled Stan Jensen Project," when asked if she was his girlfriend, the reply was, "She always gets me into trouble...I hope she's my girlfriend."Apart from that, he did have a crush on Miranda Sanchez in the episode Working Girl.
