A floater is a shadow-like shape that appears singly or together with several others in the field of vision of some individuals.

* Floater (band), a band based in Portland, Oregon
*Floater (alien), a race of enemy aliens in the X-COM computer game "UFO Defense"
*Floating rate note, in finance, a floating-rate bond, or a bond whose coupon rates are reset periodically according to a specified benchmark (e.g. LIBOR)
*A type of insurance policy that covers property at one or more locations, often in transit.
*Also a term for an company employee without a permanent assigned location, who travels from branch to branch and fills in where he or she is needed. Frequently found in banks. A related term is a K-12 teacher who is not assigned a particular classroom but instead travels from classroom to classroom in order to teach classes.
