College Football Career
2002 - Freshman seasonBecame the Tar Heels' starting kick returner by the third week of the season • Returned 29 kickoffs for 624 yards • Finished fifth in the ACC with a kickoff return average of 21.5 yards • Had a season-long return of 52 yards in the season finale at Duke • Returned the first kickoff of his career for 14 yards vs. Texas • Had two returns for 59 yards vs. Georgia Tech • Returned six kicks for 98 yards at Virginia • Returned three kicks for 85 yards, including a 39-yarder vs. NC State • Had his most productive day vs. Clemson with five returns for 136 yards, including a 46-yard to the Tiger's 30-yard line • That return set up a Carolina touchdown five plays later • Also made one tackle on special teams.
2003 - Sophomore season Played in all 12 games, primarily on special teams, but also saw some action at wide receiver • Made his first career reception a memorable one with a 17-yard touchdown grab against Duke in the final game of the season • Finished the year with seven kickoff returns for 122 yards • Had four kickoff returns for 89 yards against Syracuse • Registered 22 tackles on the season, including 15 solo stops and seven assists • Forced a fumble against Wake Forest.
2004 - Junior seasonFormer walk-on who was awarded a scholarship in 2004 • Entered the season with just one reception (a 17-yard touchdown in 2003), but became more of a factor in the offense over the second half of the season • Had 10 receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns • Made an acrobatic catch in the back corner of the end zone for a touchdown in the Continental Tire Bowl against Boston College • Had three catches for 23 yards against the Eagles • Caught one pass for four yards at Duke • Made a team-high four catches for 33 yards in the win over Wake Forest • Three of his four receptions against the Deacons were third-down conversions • Caught two passes against Virginia Tech in 2004 for 59 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter • Also can return kicks.
Was awarded a scholarship prior to the 2004 season • Played well at the end of the season and is a key member of UNC's receiving corps heading into 2005.
