- William Hood
William Hood is an
art historian and the Mildred C. Jay Professor of Art atOberlin College , where he has taught since 1974. Professor Hood is now a visiting professor at Columbia University where in the Spring 2008 Semester, he is teaching "Early Italian Art: 1250-1500."Research
His research interests center around Italian Renaissance art, as well as the art of 17th and 18th century France, Italy, and Spain. Yale University Press , won the 1993George Wittenborn Memorial Book Award , the 1994Eric Mitchell Prize and was a finalist in thePremio Salimbeni Competition in Italy. Professor Hood received his B.A. and M.F.A. at the
University of Georgia . He did his doctoral work at theInstitute of Fine Arts in New York and was awarded a Ph.D. in 1977.He has taught at
Oberlin College since 1974 and holds the endowed Mildred C. Jay professorship inart history . He is afellow at theAmerican Academy in Rome , as well as theHarvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies at theVilla I Tatti [http://www.itatti.it/] inFlorence , where he held two visiting professorships from 1989-90 and from 1999-2000.He is also a 2005 recipient of an
