William Richardson (martyr)

Blessed William Richardson is a sixteenth-century Roman Catholic English martyr.

He was born in Sheffield, England. He then studied for priesthood at Valladolid and at Seville, Spain, and became officially ordained in 1594. William was then sent back to England, where he used the alias William Anderson. Soon, he was arrested and hanged, drawn, and quartered. He was the final martyr that took place during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603. [CathEncy|wstitle=Ven. William Richardson]

His feast day is celebrated February 7.
