He is a major figure in Japanese popular music, and is regarded as being one of the worlds most influential musicians, [ [http://www.hmv.co.jp/news/article/303120038 音楽 情報ニュース/100人の偉大なアーティスト - No. 74/HMV ] ] and one of the greatest singers of all time. It first appeared on his album "Melodies" in 1983, and was later released as a single In 1986. He is also the husband and producer of Mariya Takeuchi.
