Jim Ned High School is a secondary school part of the the Jim Ned Consolidated Independent School District. A small portion of northeastern Runnels County lies within the district also. The district and the school are both named after the Jim Ned creek which runs through all 3 towns. The creek is named after Jim Ned who was an Indian cavalry scout for the United States Army.

Colt McCoy, the starting quarterback for the University of Texas Longhorns, graduated from Jim Ned High School, where he was coached in football by his father, Brad McCoy. Jim Ned varsity basketball girls won the 08 2A state championship defeating poth 64-46. The boys basketball was runner-up in state losing to ponder in the championship game. Jim Ned also was the 2A uil state champions. Lane Quinney, and Amanda Burley both placed first place. Quinney in Accounting and Burley in Calculator. Payden Johnson and Jada Yarbrough placed second individually Johnson in Social Studies and Yarbrough in Accounting. The Social Studies team won first, Accounting and Spelling were runner-up. This marks the first time Jim Ned has won the state acedemic meet
