3rd Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (United States)

The 3rd Battalion 158th Aviation Regiment was activated on July 25, 1968 in the Regular Army as Company C, 158th Aviation Battalion, an element of the 101st Airborne Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas. It was inactivated October 16, 1986 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and relieved from assignment to the 101st Airborne Division. The unit was redesignated September 16, 1987 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 158th Aviation, but withdrawn from the regular Army on September 16, 1988 and allotted to the Army Reserve at Glenview, Illinois, where it was inactivated and re-allotted to the Regular Army. The Battalion was concurrently redesignated as Company C, 158th Aviation and activated in Germany. It was redesignated on October 16, 2000 as the 3rd Battalion, 158th Aviation. As of mid-2001, a detachment from Foxtrot Company, 159th Aviation Regiment, was deployed to Camp Able Sentry, Macedonia, in support of KFOR and Operation JOINT GUARDIAN.
