|Whitegate (Irish place name|An Geata Bán) is a small village in northeastern
County Clare , Ireland. A tightly knit community shows through even though many of the old buildings are gone. What was once the church has been in disuse for many years and has now become a warehouse and lumberyard. All that is left of the oldest buildings is a small cottage which has crumbled and caved in on the cross-roads.While Whitegate is a quiet village, there are many efforts being done to make it a new and "clean" looking town. A new church has been erected and there are many new houses being built along the main street. Even the local pubs such as, The Half Barrel, have seen new coats of paint. Also in Whitegate are two other pubs, The Nightingale and Lucas', both with their own character. Lucas' boasts a thriving Friday night trade which includes the usual trade session which is always great "
craic ", where as the Nightingale provides a very Irish social type night out with the usual banter associated with any small GAA loving village.ee also
