Dynamite Boy was a pop punk band from Austin, Texas. They comprised Sean Neil, Dusty Kohn, Adrian Munoz and Sam Rich. Allegedly, they disbanded in 2005 after a ten-year career, however due to recent posts on the band's MySpace this is unsure. They have been reuniting for one-off shows between 2006 and 2008.[1]

History

Dynamite Boy were formed in 1995 in Austin, Texas by four members Sean Neil, Andrew Leeper, Matt Greco, and Scott Williams, and in 1996, the band recorded their first full length album, Hell is Other People, which was not released until 1998 through Offtime Records. They played shows throughout Texas over the next few years, before signing to Fearless Records in 1999, releasing their second full length album, Finder's Keepers. They would go on to tour with bands such as The Ataris and No Use for a Name, before releasing their third album Somewhere in America, in 2001. From there, they toured with bands such as The Offspring, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Further Seems Forever, Riddlin' Kids, Cruiserweight, Fall Out Boy, Mest, and Lost City Angels.[2]

After releasing their last album in 2004, Dynamite Boy disbanded in 2005. Sean Neil announced that the disbanding was a result of his desire to start a family.

Also in 2004, the band wrote and recorded the title track (same name as the film) for the short film Gay By Dawn.[3]

On April 21, 2008, Punkbands.com reported that Dynamite Boy had reformed and would be playing at the Emo's in Austin on April 26, although this was not the band's first reunion show; they had previously got together for one-off shows in both 2006 and 2007 in Austin.[1] Dynamite Boy also played a show on June 7, 2008, at the Red Eye Fly in Austin, Texas. Despite the additional shows, there was definite indication of whether the band will do a full scale tour or begin writing a new album.

In 2002 Dynamite Boy did a cover of "I Want It That Way" made famous by the Backstreet Boys for the album Punk Goes Pop created by Fearless Records, they also did a cover for another album for the Punk Goes... series: "T.N.T" by AC/DC for the Punk Goes Metal album. Also in 2003 the band lent it's music to be used to in the disney film "MXP: Most Extreme Primate." The song "AV99" is featured in the film to be played by Trevor Wright's character Jay's band as a celebration for his little brother and a monkey winning a snowboard race.
