Joan Roberts

Joan Roberts (born 15 July 1918) is the American actress who created the role of Laurey in the original Broadway production of "Oklahoma!" in 1943. She is one of the few surviving cast members of the original production (along with Celeste Holm). She was born in New York City.

She had been in retirement as a mother and grandmother, living on Long Island for many years, when she took on the role of Heidi Schiller in the 2001 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's "Follies".

Recently, she helped out local high school musicals in Oceanside, New York, including recent productions of "High Button Shoes" and "Oklahoma!", directed by Bruce Bider.
