Thomas Wiegand

Thomas Wiegand (born 6 May 1970 in Wismar) is a German electrical engineer who actively participated in the creation of the H.264/AVC video coding standard. He was one of the chairmen of the standardization committee (Joint Video Team (JVT) and the editor of the standard itself (and he remains active in those roles).
