Gulf Coast region. He has also appeared in numerous plays, including a run Off-Broadway in the one-man show "The Kingfish ", wherein he portrayed colorful Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long. He is perhaps best-known for having portrayed Ignatius J. Reilly in "A Confederacy of Dunces ". For that role, he has been honored with a life-sized bronze statue on historic Canal Street in downtown New Orleans. Literary fans travel from across the globe to see "Ignatius" from thePulitzer Prize winning novel.On television, McConnell made appearances over three seasons on "
Roseanne " with good friend and colleagueJohn Goodman .
