"The Gift" is a song by post grunge band Seether. It is the fourth track on their album "Karma and Effect". Like many of Seether's songs the lyrics are psychologically complex and open to interpretation.

Music Video

The music video was written and directed by Meiert Avis. The enigmatic story shows Shaun Morgan returning to a Mexican town, Oaxaca , for the Day of the Dead festival. Shaun is treated with hostility by the family he is visiting. He is then taken to a roadside grave by the man of the house. On the way to the grave they encounter a young girl and an old Curandera walking into town. The little girl visits her family in town, leaving skull candy on Shaun's bed. Shaun spends the night by her grave. The back story is implicit.

The story is intercut with the band playing the song. This is also the last video to feature guitarist Pat Callahan, as he departed before the recording of Seether's next album "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces".
