The American University of Antigua is a medical school located at Friar Hill road at the capital city St. John's in the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda.

Introduction

American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine was founded by New York lawyer Neal S. Simon, who formerly served as president of Ross University. AUA is listed in FAIMER's International Medical Education Directory as having started instruction in 2004. Pre-Med Program

The Pre-Medical program is designed for recent high school graduates wanting to enter through the sciences field into the medical program and current undergraduate students who do not have the necessary prerequisite courses to be qualified for the M.D program. Students who successfully complete the pre-med program will earn an Associate of Science degree in Health Sciences then proceed to the M.D program.

The following pre-medical credit courses are required in order to obtain an Associate of Science degree as well as proceed into the M.D Program.

Semester I

Introductory Biology I with Laboratory,General Chemistry I with Laboratory, Pre-Calculus,English Composition I

Semester II Introductory Biology II with Laboratory,General Chemistry II with Laboratory, Calculus 4 Credits, English Composition II 3 Credits

Semester III Organic Chemistry I with Laboratory, General Physics I with Laboratory, Introduction to Psychology 3 Credits, Cell Biology 3 Credits

Semester IV Organic Chemistry II with Laboratory, General Physics II with Laboratory, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Genetics and Microbiology

Basic Core Sciences M.D Program

The first five Basic Science semesters rollow the new paradigm in medical education. All of the traditional didactic classroom and lab work is conducted in modern facilities, and clinical experiences begin at the hospital in the first semester.
