Edward Owen Lay (born 20 February 1981) is the drummer for indie rock band Editors, who rose to fame after the release of 2005’s debut release "The Back Room". Lay joined Editors whilst they were known as Snowfield, replacing the band’s previous drummer Geraint Owen (who now drums for Welsh band 'The Heights').

An Ipswich native, 27 year old Lay met his bandmates whilst completing the Music Technology programme at Staffordshire University. Whilst Editors awaited musical popularity, the band members held odd jobs to make ends meet, Lay worked in a shoe shop with Editors guitarist Chris Urbanowicz.

Prior to achieving stardom Ed played drums in a number of Ipswich bands, many of which supported local legends Dark Seed, the drummer of which was reputed to have "taught Ed everything he knows".Fact|date=December 2007
