Joseph Widmer includes Kindergarten to Eighth grade. Seventh grade and up is considered to be Junior High.The mascot of Joseph Widmer School is the wildcat.

Current number of students attending are about 1,215. Because of excessive numbers of students attending Joseph Widmer School, it is rumoured that some students may be transferred. According to the 2004 STAR student answer document, there are 11% African-Americans, 1% American Indian ot Alaska Native, 7% Asian, 13% Filipinos, 37% Hispanic or Latino, and 29% caucasian.
