The City of Rocks State Park is located in Grant County, in southwestern New Mexico in the southwestern United States. It is situated within an unusual formation of rocky outcroppings composed of welded volcanic ash. It provides opportunities for camping, picnicking, wildlife viewing, and dark night-sky viewing (including a 14-inch (36 cm) telescope). Nearby are the communities of Silver City and Deming.
The area also contains the Emory Caldera and the 314 mi2 Kneeling Nun Tuff, created by a VEI 8.5 eruption, 34.9 million years ago.
