The flag was first used in1991 when the two countries competed as a single team in the 41st WorldTable Tennis Championship in Chiba,Japan and the 6th World Youth Football Championship inLisbon ,Portugal . The two countries' teams marched together under the flag in the opening ceremonies of the2000 Summer Olympics inSydney , the2004 Summer Olympics inAthens , the2006 Winter Olympics inTurin , and the2006 Asian Games inDoha ; however, the two countries competed separately in sporting events. The flag was not used in the2008 Summer Olympics inBeijing , due to the decision, made byBOCOG , that the two teams will be entering separately.
