Magar (Maharashtra)

The Magar are a people constituting the Marathi ethnic group of Maharashtra, India. The Magars are probably part of the Maratha caste-complex.

The Magar hamlet of Magarpatta near Pune was in the news in November - December 2006 following news reports on the success of its Magar inhabitants, originally marginal farmers, in exploiting their landholdings to gain great wealth.
