The Battle of Tienhaara was a part of
Continuation War betweenFinland and theSoviet Union , troops on the Finnish side were commanded by Colonel Alpo Marttinen. After the fall ofViipuri on June 20, the Soviet Union started an offensive to open the way toHelsinki the heart of Finland, but they could not break through the Finnish defence and so it ended in a Finnish victory. However,Tienhaara (now Seleznevo) village was left to Soviet Union afterTreaty of Paris in 1947.
