BBC television from1976 to1977 . It starredTim Woodward as Alan Farmer, a young blacksmith's son turned fighter pilot inWorld War I .Nicholas Jones played his teacher and mentor, Captain Triggers, and
Michael Cochrane played his upper-class friend, Charles Gaylion, who began a relationship with Farmer's girlfriend while Farmer was believed dead, shot down overFrance . Directed by Daniel Muirden, who went on to directblockbuster film, Titanic.The series was written by Barry Thomas. Twenty-five episodes were made in all.
