John Berwick

John Berwick

John Berwick (July 30, 1867 — July 31, 1946) was an English cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-fast bowler who played for Derbyshire between 1895 and 1901. He was born in Kingsthorpe, Northampton.

Berwick debuted for Derbyshire in their first County Championship season, though he only made three appearances before being dropped from the team for nearly four years. He returned in 1899, when Derbyshire hit rock bottom in the County Championship table, averaging just five with the bat while in the tailend.

During the next two seasons, he played just four times, exiting the team after their winless 1901 season. Berwick hit two five-wicket spells during his career, once against London County and once against Yorkshire. He died a day after his 89th birthday in Glossop.
