KKPK (92.9 FM) is a Hot Adult Contemporary format radio station licensed to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

History

In the late 1970s and the entire 1980s, KSPZ was an Adult Contemporary format and used the on-air handle Z93. In early 1990, KSPZ switched to an Oldies format and called themselves Oldies 92.9. KSPZ evolved to Classic Hits in the fall of 2005 and added more songs from the 70s and 80s, while dropping most 50s and early 60s titles.

On October 5, 2006, KSPZ became "The New Peak FM". In June of 2006, Pikes Peak Broadcasting sold KRDO-FM, The Peak, to Citadel Broadcasting who changed the station to Cat Country 95.1. Citadel Broadcasting adopted the Peak moniker for the 92.9 frequency soon thereafter.

The announcement of the new station was made by the morning show at 9:29 AM on the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The call letters for KSPZ officially switched to KKPK/Colorado Springs on October 5, 2006.

As of late 2007, KKPK has one of the highest ratings in the Colorado Springs market, while competing with cross-town rivals KKLI and KVUU.
