Robert Orr, Jr. (
March 5 ,1786 –May 22 ,1876 ) was a Jacksonian member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromPennsylvania .Robert Orr, Jr. was born near
Hannastown, Pennsylvania . At an early age moved with his parents toArmstrong County, Pennsylvania , and later moved toKittanning, Pennsylvania . He served as deputy sheriff of Armstrong County in 1805. He studied surveying and was appointed deputy district surveyor.Orr served in the
War of 1812 and promoted to the rank of colonel. He was a member of thePennsylvania House of Representatives from 1817 to 1820. He served in thePennsylvania State Senate from 1821 to 1826.Orr was elected as a Jacksonian to the Nineteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of
James Allison, Jr. He was reelected as a Jacksonian to the Twentieth Congress. He retained his interest in military affairs, acquiring the rank and title of general. He resided inOrrsville, Pennsylvania , a short time in 1845, and later inAllegheny City from 1848 to 1852. He returned to Kittanning and died there in 1876. Interment in Kittanning Cemetery.ources
