German submarine U-383

German submarine U-383

Unterseeboot 383 or U-383 was a German World War II Type VIIC submarine commissioned on 6 June 1942. U-383 served with 8. Unterseebootflottille (U-Boat Flotilla) for training and later with 9. Unterseebootflottille from 1 October 1942 to 1 August 1943. U-383 completed four patrols sinking one ship totalling GRT|423|first=yes.

U-383 was sunk on 1 August 1943 with all hands west of Brittany, likely from damage caused by depth charges dropped by a Short Sunderland of RAF No.228 Squadron.
