DenverPeña Boulevard is a
freeway in northeasternDenver, Colorado , owned and maintained by the City and County of Denver, although the southwesternmost half mile is in the city of Aurora and in Adams County. The northeastern terminus is the entrance toDenver International Airport . The southwestern terminus connects to I-70 at exit 285. The road is approximately 10 miles (16 km) long, and normally the whole length can be traversed in a little more than 10 minutes. Speed limit is 65 mph (100 km/h) for most of thefreeway , with reduced speeds at the airport entrance.Route description
From
Denver International Airport , the public exit lanes are the start of Peña Boulevard southbound. Within the first mile, the road turns west. Exits at the second mile (Jackson Gap Road) and the third mile (75th Avenue and Gun Club Road) lead to car rental lots and outlying airport parking. In the fourth mile, theE-470 tollway exits north and south; in the fifth mile, Tower Road exits north and south. Travelers thereby have a choice between a limited-access, high-speed tollway and a much slower conventional road, either northbound or southbound. Alternatively, they can continue west along Peña Boulevard. After the Tower Road interchange, in the sixth mile the freeway turns southbound again. Interchanges are encountered for local streets within
Denver : 56th Avenue, 48th Avenue, and 40th Avenue, the last being the point at which the highway exits the City and County of Denver and enters both Adams County and Aurora. Less than a mile later, Peña Boulevard ends at its interchange with I-70 at exit 285.The northeastern portion of Peña Boulevard provides the only private-automobile access to
