Khakurinokhabl

Khakurinokhabl ( _ru. Хакуринохабль; _ad. Хьэкурынэхьабл) is an aul (village) in the Republic of Adygea, Russia, located on the Fars River, 60 km north of Maykop. It is the administrative center of Shovgenovsky District. Population: 3,828 (2002 Census).

Until March 27, 1996, the aul was called Shovgenovsky ( _ru. Шовгеновский).Resolution of the State Council-Khase of the Republic of Adygea #62-1 of March 27, 1996 "On Restitution of the Historical Name of the "aul of Khakurinokhabl" to the Aul of Shovgenovsky of Shovgenovsky District"]

There is a museum of Khusen Andrukhayev, a Hero of Soviet Union, founded in 1973 in the aul. As of 2003, there are no educational facilities above the level of secondary school.

The landfill of Khakurinokhabl is located dangerously close (2 km) to the Fars River and to the agricultural lands, posing high ecological risk since the time of its opening in 2000 _ru. С. А.
